Character Name: Vexen
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Character History: Vexen was one of the original nobodies to join Organization XIII, and before he lost his heart, one of the six apprentices to Ansem the Wise. As a somebody, Vexen-- then called Even-- worked as a researcher in Radiant Garden where he and the other apprentices worked to unlock the secret workings of the heart.
As time progressed, Ansem and his apprentices grew fearful that darkness would begin to consume their world and, desperate, began experimenting on Xehanort's heart. Within the Radiant Garden castle's basement, they created a laboratory for the express purpose of carrying out these experiments. Unbeknownst to Ansem, the apprentices began branching out into more experiments-- inhumane experiments that tried to understand the darkness within the heart. Despite Ansem's orders for the experiments to be discontinued, he found it was too late. The effects of the experiments were irreversible, and Heartless had been created. The apprentices, finally fully rebelling against Ansem, banished him to the Realm of Darkness.
Not long after, Xehanort turned on the apprentices, removing first his heart and then all of theirs. Despite losing his heart, Even's strong will enabled him to continue to exist as a nobody, upon which he adopted the name Vexen. Vexen, the other apprentices, and Ienzo (an orphan Even had been tasked with looking after) all found that they still remained as nobodies and formed Organization XIII together.
Within the Organization, Vexen found that most of his time was spent working at Castle Oblivion, where he worked as leader and adviser of the Replica Program, creating replicas of individuals out of memories. This program lead to the creation of Xion, an imperfect replica of Roxas meant to serve as a back-up in case both Sora and Roxas failed to carry out the Organization's plans. Vexen briefly returned to the Castle that Never Was in order to teach Roxas a lesson on reconnaissance before being sent back to Castle Oblivion.
Within Castle Oblivion, Vexen learned of Marluxia and Larxene's plans to overthrow the Organization by manipulating Sora to work for them. Working with Lexaeus and Zexion from within the basement of the castle, Vexen engaged Riku in battle and collected his memories in order to create a replica of him, with the plan to counteract Sora's light with Riku's darkness. However, despite the replica's willingness to use the darkness, it fell in battle against the real Riku. Despite its failure, Vexen took the replica to Marluxia and Larxene, offering it as a test against Sora by using Namine to manipulate its memories. If they could make the replica believe it was the real Riku- and get Sora to think the same- the replica could vouch for Sora's false memories, and perhaps he would more easily be swayed to their side.
However, they very quickly lost control of the replica, and the experiment was deemed a failure by Marluxia. The replica and Sora had too many corresponding memories- they were too closely connected. Marluxia threatened to report Vexen's failure to Xemnas, the leader of the Organization. Vexen, fearful of being reported to the Superior, agreed to fight against Sora in order to prevent himself from being eliminated. Vexen, while fighting Sora, used the chance to take memories from the other side of his heart-- Roxas' memories-- and gave Sora the ability to enter a projection of Twilight Town. By unlocking the memories on the other side of his heart, Sora would be of no use to the Organization, thereby putting Marluxia's plans in danger. It would be the perfect chance to throw a wrench in Marluxia's plans without drawing undue attention to himself.
However, Marluxia, Larxene, and Axel (a loose cannon within the castle) had grown aware of Vexen's attempts to stop them from overthrowing the rest of the Organization. Before Vexen could manage to tell Sora of their plans to manipulates him into working for them, Axel appears on orders from Marluxia. Despite Vexen pleading for his life, Axel eliminates him in a burst of flame and Vexen fades out of existence, eliminated. And then he Wakes.
(It's probably worth noting that he's already arrived in the city twice before now, but I don't think anyone would recognize him. And he's not going to remember it at all, either.)
Character Personality: Vexen's title is within the Organization is The Chilly Academic, and it's not just referring to his ability to command ice. His view on people and life in general is all one big experiment-- he's detached and cold (no pun intended), viewing things as little more than objects to be manipulated or controlled. He likes being in charge of things and latches onto power and positions of command quickly.
He's an intellectual, and very much enjoys showing this off. While he does enjoy taking the opportunity to teach and advise others, he's very short with people he views as less intelligent than him (in his mind, just about everyone) and easily grows frustrated. He demands respect and doesn't tolerate being mocked in any capacity. That being said, he will acknowledge when other people have earned his respect. He's fearful of those with more power than him and will easily bow to those who have earned the power they control.
All this being said, it's probably not hard to guess that he's far from being social. As much as he loves the attention and awe of others, it's much easier to work when one is alone. As such, he's sort of a recluse, especially when he gets into a project (all of his projects, regardless of scale, tend to stay secrets because of this-- and the fact that he doesn't trust anyone with any of his information).
He's not a fan of jokes-- he doesn't even get them, most of the time-- and tends to take things very literally. Despite this, he's often sarcastic if the occasion calls for it, though it's hard to tell due to how deadpan and straight-faced he tends to stay. He just doesn't express emotions very much... or at least emotions outside of exasperation and anger.
He's very loyal to the Organization, though it's not exactly due to straight-forward reasoning. Vexen is number IV, and he greatly values his title and considers himself superior to the lower-numbered members because of it. He doesn't want his rank put in danger- that's why he was so against Marluxia's plans to take over the Organization. However, he's also loyal out of fear of being eliminated. Despite how he talks, Vexen is rather cowardly and would do anything to preserve his own life, even if this means stooping to begging.
Powers and Abilities: Vexen has the ability to summon a large shield made out of ice. Although it's mainly used for defense, by spinning spikes on the edges it serves as a good offensive weapon, as well. He can further command ice by blasting it from his hand or causing chunks of ice to appear from the ground to freeze others. Additionally, his abilities can manifest as slippery patches of ice on the ground, icicles that can be launched at a target, and a full-on miniature blizzard.

Network: (Test drive, but it's not particularly Network-focused so I'll write out a sample as well.)
If this is a joke, it isn't funny-- nor is it appreciated.
[Getting right to the point. He looks distinctly annoyed, glaring straight at the camera as if scolding the city as a whole.]
Clearly someone has modified my communications device to restrict contact to the rest of the Organization, including my superior. If you have any sense, I strongly advise that you remedy this at once. I am a senior member of this Organization and I have matters of the utmost important to discuss. I won't have my time wasted by- by petty tricks!
I will graciously accept your apology if you return my device to full capability sooner rather than later. Normally sabotaging the communications of a senior operative would be a much more grave offense-- fortunately for you, I am very forgiving.
[A heavy sigh-- an attempt to cool down. He speaks again after a moment of silence, much less angry but just as curt this time.]
Communications aside, so long as I am momentarily stuck here, it would be... appreciated... if I could rent out a lab space for the time being. I have experiments that must be conducted, and considering I currently lack the necessary tools to do so, I will have to make do with what this city has to offer. I assure you, I will certainly make it worth your while.
[Well, at least it's not begging, but he still grimaces right before he closes the feed. The only thing worse than having to actively talk to people is having to ask things of them.]
Third Person: This was annoying.
More than annoying, actually. Frightening would be a word Vexen would use if he had lost all sense of pride, but fortunately he kept his wits about him well enough to avoid entertaining that possibility. There was no point in being frightened if this was the afterlife, after all. It isn't as though he could do anything to change that.
Frustrating, though, that he didn't even have enough with him to test that hypothesis. No abilities, no other people around, and he certainly remembered being destroyed, but it still didn't quite add up. For one, this didn't look like he'd imagined the afterlife to be. Not... gloomy enough. Secondly... well. Does a Nobody continue to exist once the body has been destroyed? How can a being without a soul carry on existing once they leave the physical realm?
More frustrating than that was knowing how close he had been to stopping what was no doubt going on in the castle right this second. If Axel hadn't interfered-- but then, there was nothing to be done about that, either. He had been foolish to underestimate Marluxia, outright stupid to be goaded into fighting for him. His fear of being eliminated had lead him into this mess, and look where he was now. Destroyed. Dead, presumably, although he knew he had technically died ages ago. Even, at least, had died. If Vexen died, too, then who are you now?
If nothing else, the afterlife was proving to be far more tolerable than the castle was. No one to talk over him or interrupt his train of thought (although, as unsettling as his current train of thought was, perhaps for once it might be nice to be interrupted). Quiet, finally-- well, not entirely, but at least the kind of quiet that exists without other voices. Unfortunate, then, that the quiet is just as distracting as noise when one has nothing else to focus on.
Perhaps counting his footsteps would be a better use of his time. Numbers were much easier to focus on than questions of his state of existence, after all-- and as unrealistic as the hope was, there was the possibility that he wasn't alone here. That someone else could answer the questions he couldn't answer himself (much as he hated to even consider that there were questions he couldn't answer). Nothing to do, then, but walk on.
